Dear Parents,

Isn't it amazing that we have been in school for one week! What changes we have already seen in the children. Now most of them are able to locate their own classroom and even some know their breakfast/ lunch account numbers. We are so thankful to everyone for their patience. Going to school is a big adjustment for our children. Most have transitioned easily and come in every morning with smiling faces.

Have you noticed our building improvements? We are glad that our covered awning is completed. The children that walk to the buses will have at least most of the way covered during bad weather. Any day, we are expecting shaded pavilions to be installed on our playground. It has been great to not have the usual 100 degrees heat days in August during school. However, we will be prepared when it does get hot!

Our school begins at 8:20 a.m. Children should strive to be here on time. After 8:20, children must be walked into the building by a parent and receive a tardy note. Tardies and excessive absences are reported to the district Attorney's office per the attendance law. If your child is absent, be sure to call our office or send a note stating the reason why the child was gone from school. We have an answering machine for before and after school calls. If your child is ill in the night and you know that he/she will be absent - you can even call the school then and leave the message for us.

We begin dismissing children at 2:45. Please do not park early at our cafeteria area and block the fire lane. We do our very best to get the children to the cars and buses in a quick and safe manner. If you are picking your child up at the cafeteria area, it is helpful for you to display your child's name on the passenger side of you car. As soon as we read your child's name , we begin locating him/her for pick up. We never take a child's word for transportation change. Be sure to call the office or send a note if your transportation needs change. Changes by phone must be called in by 2:00 p.m. Children are to be picked up by a parent or someone listed on your child's emergency form.

Thank you GEFFE.org

Does your child have a medical history or an allergy that we need to be aware of? If so, please discuss with your child's teacher and our school nurse, Mrs. Edmonson. If you ever need us to give your child medication at school, you will need to come in and fill out a medication form.

Thanks to everyone for their efforts in making our beginning of school so successful. I look forward to getting to know all of our students this year. Do not hestitate to contact myself, our secretary Ms. Cheryl or our school staff for any question or concerns

      Thank you,

      Mrs. Bloss

                                                                                     Just Playing

When I'm building in the block room, please don't say I'm "Just Playing." For, you see, I'm learning as I play, about balance and shapes. Who knows, I may be an architect someday.

When I'm getting all dressed up, setting the table, caring for the babies, don't get the idea I'm "Just Playing." I may be a mother or father someday.

When you see me up to my elbows in paint, or standing at an easel, or molding, or shaping clay, please don't let me hear you say, He is "Just Playing." For, you see, I'm learning as I play. I'm expressing myself and being creative. I may be an artist or an inventor someday.

When you see me sitting in a chair "Reading" to an imaginary audience, please don't laugh and think I'm "Just Playing." For, you see, I'm learning as I play. I may be a teacher someday.

When you see me combing the bushes for bugs, or packing my pockets with choice things I find, don't pass it off as "Just Playing." For, you see, I'm learning as I play. I may be a scientist someday.

When you see me engrossed in a puzzle or some "plaything" at my school, please don't feel the time is wasted in "Play." For, you see, I'm learning as I play. I'm learning to follow directions and see differences. I may be in business someday.

When you see me cooking or tasting foods, please don't think that because I enjoy it, it is "Just Play." For, you see, I'm learning as I play. I'm learning to follow directions and see differences. I may be a cook someday.

When you see me learning to skip, hop, run, and move my body, please don't say I'm "Just Playing." For, you see, I'm learning as I play. I'm learning how my body works. I may be a doctor, nurse, or athlete someday.
